West Bengal Elections Kick Off: Arijit Singh’s Father Votes | Entertainment

The West Bengal Assembly elections began with singer Arijit Singh's father participating in the voting process. Surinder Singh found the experience smooth and peaceful in Murshidabad. With 294 seats at stake, major parties are vying for control, and the outcome will be determined on May 4.

The West Bengal Assembly elections commenced on Thursday, marking a crucial phase of political contest for 294 seats. Among the early voters was Surinder Singh, father of renowned singer Arijit Singh, who cast his vote in Murshidabad.

Speaking to ANI, Surinder Singh praised the election process, describing it as smooth and peaceful. 'Everything is good. May everything go well. There is no problem at all. Voting is going on smoothly. I have cast my vote,' he noted.

As Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee seeks a fourth consecutive term, the BJP is striving to expand its influence after securing 77 seats previously. According to the Election Commission of India, the first phase covers 152 constituencies, with 1,478 candidates in the fray. Vote counting is set for May 4.
