PTC News Desk: A US citizen and a man from Kolkata have been detained at Srinagar Airport for carrying a satellite phone, according to sources. The American has been identified as Jeffrey Scott Prather, while the other individual is Haldar Koushik from Kolkata.

In India, satellite phones can only be used with prior permission from the Department of Telecommunications, and they must be declared upon arrival.

Authorities are currently questioning both men. The matter is particularly sensitive in Jammu and Kashmir, where satellite phones are often restricted due to concerns that Pakistan-backed terrorists could use them for communication.
