The Standard Expands India Footprint With Bengaluru GCC, Steps Up Leadership Hiring – BW People
New capability centre to anchor AI, engineering and global operations as hiring scales across functions
The Standard has strengthened its India expansion with the launch of a new global capability centre in Bengaluru, alongside a focused push to build leadership and specialised talent across functions.
The facility, located at Embassy Tech Village and inaugurated by Karnataka IT minister Priyank Kharge, marks the company's second capability hub in India following its entry into the market in late 2025. The centre is positioned as a long-term base for high-value work spanning AI engineering, cloud platforms, data analytics, digital transformation and insurance operations.
As part of the expansion, the company is scaling its India leadership team across finance, human resources, talent acquisition, technology, administration and communications. The hiring strategy reflects a shift from traditional back-office support roles to integrated, high-impact functions aligned with global business priorities.
The Bengaluru hub is expected to play a central role in transitioning technology work from vendor-led models to in-house engineering teams, improving agility and strengthening innovation capabilities. It will also support closer collaboration between India and global teams through a shared leadership model across key functions.
With an existing workforce of around 200 employees in India, the company is expected to continue selective hiring for specialised roles as it deepens its presence. The focus remains on building advanced capabilities rather than scaling headcount alone.
The expansion underscores a broader trend of global financial services firms leveraging India's talent ecosystem for strategic, innovation-led operations. For employees, the move signals growing opportunities in high-end engineering, AI and enterprise technology roles within global capability centres.
