Priyadarshan to team up with Pankaj Tripathi for comedy ahead of 100th film with Mohanlal, reports- Moneycontrol.com

The untitled film will start shooting in July for a quick wrap

Priyadarshan seems to be slipping back into his comfort zone. After experimenting with genres, the veteran filmmaker is now gearing up for a light-hearted comedy featuring Pankaj Tripathi, Annu Kapoor, and Saurabh Shukla in lead roles.

The film, still untitled, is expected to carry the same chaotic charm and situational humour that made classics like Hungama and The Shaukeens so memorable.

As per a report by India Today, the story will follow three elderly men dealing with situations that are anything but ordinary.

Think confusion, misadventures, and the kind of humour that builds slowly before exploding into full-blown madness — very much Priyadarshan's signature style. What makes this project even more interesting is the emotional layer behind the casting, with the director reconnecting with actors he hasn't worked with in years.

Priyadarshan and Pankaj Tripathi come together again after nearly sixteen years since Aakrosh, while Saurabh Shukla returns after Yeh Teraa Ghar Yeh Meraa Ghar. For Annu Kapoor, this reunion is even more special as it's been over three decades since they collaborated on Muskurahat and Gardish.

Add to that Rajpal Yadav, a regular in Priyadarshan's comic world, and you've got a cast that already feels like a perfect fit. The search for the female lead is still ongoing.

Interestingly, this film isn't meant to be a long, drawn-out project. It's being planned as a quick shoot before Priyadarshan moves on to something much bigger — his 100th film, starring Mohanlal, which is expected to begin production in November 2026.

This comedy, on the other hand, is likely to go on floors in July and wrap up within two months.

Meanwhile, his recent release Bhooth Bangla, starring Akshay Kumar, is doing fairly well at the box office, bringing Rs 118 crore worldwide within just five days. The positive response has already sparked conversations about a sequel and possibly even a franchise, though nothing official has been announced yet.
