IPL 2026: KL Rahul gets ‘blamed for exposing’ Sahil Parakh, ex-India bowler slams ‘toxicity’ around DC star- Moneycontrol.com

Delhi Capitals (DC) batters fell like a pack of cards in the IPL encounter against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on Monday evening. Bhuvneshwar Kumar led the mayhem at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi and he was soon joined by RCB compatriot Josh Hazlewood. Both bowlers decimated the DC line-up as they were folded for 75 in 16.3 overs.

Barring impact sub Abishek Porel, Proteas batter David Miller, and Kyle Jamieson no other batter could touch double digits. KL Rahul, DC's most decorated batter, was packed for 1. Rahul had scored 152* in the match before the RCB clash, which saw him smash the third highest individual score in IPL, also making him the only third batter to touch 150 in IPL's 19-year-long history.

Reflecting on DC's dismal show with the bat, Rahul was bashed for "exposing" 18-year-old Sahil Parakh, who was handed his IPL debut. Parakh was outdone by an unplayable delivery by Bhuvneshwar in the first over as the seasoned pacer dismissed the rookie for two-ball duck with a ripping yorker.

Rahul was criticised for allowing Parakh to take strike instead of taking the responsibility himself, which didn't sit well with former India bowler Dodda Ganesh. "Saw a couple of journalists' tweet yesterday where they blamed KL Rahul for exposing the debutant from ball one. FYI guys, that kid is no tail ender; he's a proper batter and that's why he was chosen to open. Can't understand this toxicity around KL Rahul," he wrote on X.

RCB completed the formalities and wrapped the chase inside 7 overs to win the match by 9 wickets. This was DC's fourth loss in last five matches, making things difficult for the Axar Patel-led side in the race for playoffs.
