Hyundai Motor India (HMIL) has launched the upgraded version of its flagship electric SUV, the Ioniq 5, which now offers enhanced driving range, improved technology, and refined design. The new Ioniq 5 is built on Hyundai's Electric‑Global Modular (E‑GMP) platform and promises an advanced, future-ready driving experience.

One of the key updates in the new Ioniq 5 is the introduction of a larger 84.0 kWh battery pack. This upgrade boosts the vehicle's range to 690 km, as per ARAI certification.

Updated Exterior Design

The exterior of the new Ioniq 5 has been refreshed with several bold design changes. The vehicle now features updated front and rear bumpers, a new sporty alloy wheel design, and robust front and rear skid plates. Additionally, the rear spoiler design has been revamped, and the car now includes a futuristic Hi-tech V-garnish lighting design. Despite these updates, the Ioniq 5 retains its Parametric Pixel design, maintaining its distinctive road presence.

Interior & Features

Inside, the Ioniq 5 continues to offer a premium, spacious cabin with improved usability. Notable interior changes include a new 3-spoke leather steering wheel with an illuminated 4-dot design, a redesigned center fascia, and dual 12.3-inch infotainment and cluster displays.

The steering wheel also integrates an interactive pixel light feature and a heating function. Additionally, the wireless smartphone charging pad has been redesigned, now featuring physical controls for the heated and ventilated seats.

In terms of safety, it now includes new features like Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist – Rear (PCA-R) and Parking Distance Warning (PDW – Side), providing additional protection and convenience for drivers in tight parking situations.

Technology

The new Ioniq 5 comes equipped with a range of advanced technologies aimed at improving the driving and ownership experience. This includes the Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC) system and Over-the-Air (C-OTA) software updates. The vehicle also offers wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay integration, a new Active Sound Design (ASD), and a remote immobilisation feature for enhanced vehicle theft protection via Hyundai's Bluelink connected car technology.

In a significant update, the Ioniq 5 now allows for in-car payment integration, enabling users to pay for EV charging directly via the infotainment system.
