CPI Attacks Centre, State Over Anti-People Policies

Nellore: CPI national secretary K. Ramakrishna on Sunday criticised the BJP-led Centre and the state government, alleging that democratic values were being undermined and public issues ignored.

Addressing a press conference at the CPI office in Nellore, Ramakrishna accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of pursuing intimidation politics and questioned the Centre's silence over remarks by former US President Donald Trump that allegedly undermined India's dignity.

He further alleged that opposition leaders faced investigations and pressure if they opposed the BJP, while those joining the party escaped scrutiny.

Ramakrishna also claimed that rising fuel costs and shortages, along with lack of remunerative prices for farmers, reflected governance failures over the past decade.

On the proposed delimitation exercise, he warned that southern states could lose representation if population-based criteria were adopted. He alleged that the Centre was introducing it under the guise of the women's bill.

CPI state secretary Gujjula Eswaraiah criticised the state government, alleging that it had failed to address growing public and farmers' issues. He said maize and paddy farmers were in severe distress and demanded immediate relief measures.

The CPI leaders urged both governments to resolve people's problems and warned of intensified protests if corrective steps were not taken.
