ISSF Junior World Cup: Shiva Narwal wins gold in 10m air pistol

In Shooting, Asian Games medallist Shiva Narwal picked up India's first gold medal by winning the men's 10m air pistol shooting event on the opening day of the ISSF Junior World Cup 2026 in Cairo, Egypt, yesterday. He struck gold with a score of 241.8.

Uzbekistan's Sodikjon Abdullaev finished second with a total of 240.0, while Chirag Sharma was third with 218.9. Shiva Narwal had also topped the qualification round.

Earlier in the day, Panaah Bhugra clinched India's first medal at the junior ISSF World Cup with a score of 250.6 to secure silver in the women's 10m air rifle event. The three medals yesterday saw India end the opening day of the tournament on top of the standings with gold, silver and bronze.

A total of 284 athletes from 25 federations are competing in Cairo, with India fielding the largest contingent with 71 Indian shooters.
