27th District Sqay C’ship commences

GANDERBAL, Apr 27: The District Sqay Association Ganderbal inaugurated the 27th District Sqay Championship at APJ Memorial Educational Institute, Preng Kangan today.
The opening day witnessed a massive participation of around 450 athletes from various clubs and schools, while the total participation is expected to cross 750 competitors across different age and weight categories.
The inaugural ceremony was graced by SDPO Kangan Rajeev Raina as the chief guest, who declared the championship open. Among special guests were Saleem Pathan, Deputy Grand Master, Sqay Federation of India; SHO Kangan Ankush; and ZEO Kangan Naseem. The event also saw the presence of international football coach Muzamil Mahmood, educationist and members of the District Sqay Association Ganderbal.
Speakers highlighted Sqay as a discipline that promotes fitness, self-defense, and character building among youth. They also appreciated its role in engaging youngsters in positive activities under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.
