BIT hosts sustainable energy IDEATHON 2026, 17 teams from different disciplines participate
Mangaluru: The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Bearys Institute of Technology (BIT), in association with the Institution's Innovation Council (IIC) and the Mechanical Engineering Student Association (MESA), organized the "Powering India – Sustainable Energy IDEATHON 2026" under the theme "Sustainable Ideas" at the International Seminar Hall on Saturday.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Imran Mokashi, Head of the Department, who highlighted the importance of innovation-driven initiatives in fostering creativity and enhancing problem-solving abilities among students.
Prof. Mohammed Sinan, Vice-Principal of BIT Mangaluru, delivered the presidential address, underlining the role of IDEATHONs in promoting innovation and encouraging students to contribute towards sustainable development.
The event was judged by Dr. Aziz Mustafa, Principal of BIES, and Dr. Mehaboob Mujawar, Head of the AI and Data Science Department.
The judges evaluated the participating teams based on parameters such as innovation, feasibility, and overall impact.
The IDEATHON witnessed active participation, with 17 teams representing various disciplines and institutions presenting their innovative ideas.
The session also featured interactive discussions, enabling students to engage with experts, clarify their concepts, and gain insights into IDEATHON execution and potential funding opportunities.
The programme was coordinated by Dr. Mohamed Kafeel Delvi and Prof. Mohiuddin A. G.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Mohamed Kafeel Delvi.
