IPL 2026, Match 38: Rinku Singh Heroics and Narine Magic Seal KKR Victory

In a nail-biting encounter, the Kolkata Knight Riders edged past the Lucknow Super Giants in a dramatic Super Over finish, with composure under pressure proving the difference.

Kolkata had a shaky start, losing three wickets inside the powerplay and stumbling to 31/3 in 6 overs. The early breakthroughs put them on the back foot, and the innings required rebuilding.

Rinku Singh rose to the occasion with a superb unbeaten 83 off 51 balls (7 fours, 5 sixes), anchoring the innings brilliantly. He found support from Cameron Green, who added stability during the middle overs.

Despite further setbacks that saw KKR slip to 81/6, Rinku kept fighting. A crucial late partnership, including contributions from Sunil Narine, helped push the total to a competitive 155/7.

Lucknow responded steadily, reaching 37/1 in the powerplay. A solid partnership between Rishabh Pant and Aiden Markram kept the chase on track.

However, KKR struck back in the middle overs, reducing LSG to 93/5, shifting momentum again. The chase went down to the wire, with Lucknow needing runs till the final ball — eventually finishing exactly on 155, tying the match.

Lucknow batted first in the Super Over but faltered under pressure, managing just 1/2 in 0.3 overs thanks to a sensational spell from Sunil Narine, who conceded only 1 run and picked up 2 wickets.

Chasing a target of 2, Kolkata wasted no time. They sealed victory in just 0.1 overs, finishing at 4/0, completing a dominant Super Over performance.
