Mushaal makes forceful appeal for Yasin Malik’s fair trial
ISLAMABAD – Mushaal Hussein Mullick, spouse of jailed Hurriyat leader Mohammad Yasin Malik and a leading advocate for Kashmiris rights, on Saturday made a forceful and uncompromising appeal for justice for incarcerated leaders. She saluted Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for "Marka e Haq" and a voice of peace, and urged the global community to urgently internationalize Yasin Malik's case in view of its serious humanitarian and geopolitical consequences. In an exclusive conversation with PTV News, she called for the full internationalisation of Yasin Malik's case and stressed the necessity of ensuring his right to a fair trial, warning that continued global silence on such issues could seriously undermine justice and peace in the region. She further cautioned that ignoring the gravity of the situation could lead to far-reaching consequences, stating that denial of justice in this case may overshadow broader international peace efforts and deepen instability across already sensitive regions. Reiterating her respect for Field Marshal Asim Munir, she praised his historic and dignified role in promoting peace and urged him to extend his leadership by taking up the matter at international forums, including the International Court of Justice, advocating for a commission of inquiry and relevant UN-backed mechanisms to ensure accountability and due process.
With due respect, she emphasized that continued denial of legal and humanitarian rights to Yasin Malik and other detained leaders poses serious risks to regional peace and stability and called for timely, responsible and coordinated international engagement to uphold justice.
She also expressed grave concern over Yasin Malik's health, stating that he urgently requires transfer to a specialized cardiac facility and is reportedly suffering mental distress due to prolonged isolation and lack of family communication, stressing that his life must be safeguarded as a humanitarian priority.
Concluding her remarks, she criticized India's policies in Kashmir, alleging disproportionate allocation of resources toward security deployments despite domestic socio-economic challenges, and said such actions contribute to the continued suffering of Kashmiris.
She alleged that Yasin Malik has been subjected to politically motivated and fabricated cases by India's National Investigation Agency (NIA), reinforcing the urgent need for a just and peaceful resolution.
