The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting advised against the release of 'Lawrence of Punjab' on ZEE5, citing risks to public order. Punjab Congress chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring sought a court ban, arguing it glorified gangster culture. The series, focused on Lawrence Bishnoi, faced pushback due to concerns about promoting crime.

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has stepped in to advise against the release of 'Lawrence of Punjab,' a docu-series on ZEE5. This action follows concerns from the Punjab Police that the series could disrupt public order.

Pushed by Punjab Congress chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring, who filed a motion in the Punjab and Haryana High Court, the Ministry cited apprehensions that the show glorifies gang culture, potentially inciting violence. The court matter was addressed after the Ministry's advisory was presented by Additional Solicitor General of India, Satya Pal Jain.

Set to release on April 27, the docu-series examined Lawrence Bishnoi's life, viewed through cultural and political lenses. Authorities raised alarms over its potential to normalize crime, disturb law and order, and influence public perception negatively, particularly with the youth.
