Telangana heatwave: Mercury to hit 44 degree Celsius as dry phase sets in from Saturday

Heatwave conditions are set to continue across Telangana with temperatures ranging between 40°C and 44°C. While isolated thunderstorms may bring brief relief on Friday, a dry spell is expected from Saturday, intensifying heat across northern and western districts.

Hyderabad: Heatwave conditions will continue to prevail across all districts of Telangana on Friday, with maximum temperatures expected to range from 40 degree Celsius and 44 degree Celsius.

While sporadic spells of thunderstorms, lightning, accompanied by gusty winds, may provide brief relief, the daytime heat is expected to be brutal, thanks to intense dry conditions during the afternoons.

In Hyderabad and its surrounding districts including Sangareddy, Vikarabad, Rangareddy and Medchal-Malkajgiri, the maximum day time temperatures are expected to hover at around 40 degree Celsius, according to India Meteorological Department (IMD), Hyderabad forecast.

The dry heat during the ongoing heatwave conditions are expected to be particularly harsh in northern and western districts of Telangana, with maximum temperatures ranging between 41 degree Celsius and 44 degree Celsius. Already, the mercury is consistently touching 44 degree Celsius in northern districts like Adilabad and Nizamabad and Eastern districts like Nalgonda.

While IMD, Hyderabad has continued with sporadic spells of thunderstorms on Friday at different locations, from Saturday onwards, the State is entering into a strictly dry phase, with no chance of thundershowers, lightning and gusty winds.
