AP aims to produce 160 GW of Green energy: CM Naidu
Andhra Pradesh is targeting to produce 160 GW of Green energy out of which works of projects capable of producing 90 GW have already been grounded, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said.
Speaking after laying the foundation stone for ₹5400 crore solar manufacturing facility of ReNew Energy in Anakapalli district near Visakhapatnam on Thursday, Naidu said Andhra Pradesh was in the process of becoming a hub for Green Energy.
Stating that NTPC Green Energy had come forward to invest ₹1.85 lakh crore in the State, Naidu said the government was also promoting greater use of Electric Vehicles and solar energy for households,
Investor confidence
Andhra Pradesh is safe for investments and has regained investor confidence, he said while inviting investors from across sectors to invest in the State.
The upcoming facility – a 6 GW solar ingot and wafer manufacturing unit – represents an investment of approximately ₹5,400 crore and is a key step in building a resilient domestic solar supply chain. By manufacturing critical upstream components such as ingots and wafers, the project will significantly reduce reliance on imports and strengthen India's energy security.
The project is also part of ReNew's broader ₹82,000 crore investment commitment in Andhra Pradesh, announced earlier, underscoring strong investor confidence in the State's policy ecosystem and governance.
The facility is expected to be commissioned within 24 months and generate over 2,100 direct and indirect jobs.
