Company pledges stability and founder's vision in transition

Bikaji Foods International on April 23 informed stock exchanges that its founder, Chairman and Whole-Time Director Shiv Ratan Agarwal has passed away. The company said Agarwal died on April 23, according to a regulatory filing.

In its disclosure, Bikaji Foods said Agarwal played a central role in building the company into a recognised brand in the traditional snacks and sweets segment, with operations spanning domestic and international markets. The company did not disclose the cause of death.

The company added that, in line with regulatory requirements, Agarwal will cease to be part of the promoter and promoter group following his demise.

Bikaji Foods said its leadership and employees expressed condolences and reaffirmed their commitment to continue operating in line with the founder's vision. The company stated that it remains focused on ensuring business stability and long-term value creation during the transition.

Founder's role in building Bikaji

Agarwal was associated with the establishment and expansion of Bikaji Foods, which operates in the ethnic snacks and sweets category. The company has grown its presence across multiple product segments, including bhujia, namkeen, packaged sweets and ready-to-eat offerings.

Over the years, Bikaji has expanded distribution across India and into international markets, positioning itself among established players in the organised snacks space.

Company background and market positioning

Bikaji Foods International is part of India's packaged foods sector, which has seen steady expansion driven by urban consumption, premiumisation and increased penetration of branded products.

The company competes with both regional and national players in the snacks and sweets category, including legacy brands and newer packaged food companies. Industry growth has been supported by rising demand for packaged traditional foods and exports to markets with a large Indian diaspora.
