Nandyal: The All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) intensified its campaign for the upcoming 18th State Conference by organising a bike rally in Nandyal on Tuesday.
The conference is scheduled to be held in Tirupati from April 26 to 29. The rally began from the CPI office in Nandyal, where district secretary P Sunkaiah formally flagged off the procession before it moved through key areas of the town and concluded at Gandhi Chowk. Speaking on the occasion, P Sunkaiah said the Tirupati conference would play a vital role in shaping the future course of labour movements in the State. He alleged that the policies being implemented by both the Central and State governments were adversely affecting workers and emphasised the need for united struggles to defend labour rights.
He said the conference would deliberate on several pressing issues, including opposition to the four Labour Codes, implementation of equal pay for equal work, and continuation of the eight-hour workday system.
