Canada’s immigration department has released updated processing times for temporary residence applications, showing improvements in several categories over a one-month period ending April 15.
Indian applicants recorded faster timelines in visitor visas, study permits and super visas, while work permit processing from India saw a marginal increase.
Visitor visas and study permits show faster processing for India For India, visitor visa processing time dropped from 37 days to 23 days, as reported by CIC News. Study permit applications also improved, with processing time reducing from 4 weeks to 3 weeks. These changes reflect a broader improvement trend in temporary visa categories.
Other countries also recorded changes during the same period. The United States saw a slight increase from 15 days to 18 days. Study permit timelines improved for the US and Nigeria as well.
Super visa improves, work permits see mixed trend Super visa processing for India improved from 202 days to 182 days, marking one of the sharper reductions among major applicant countries, according to CIC News. In contrast, work permit processing for India increased from 7 weeks to 8 weeks. The United States improved slightly from 8 weeks to 7 weeks.
The United States also saw a decline from 185 days to 164 days, while Pakistan and the Philippines recorded smaller improvements.
According to CIC News, the department said processing times are based on expected decision timelines and may vary depending on application type and workload. It also separates historical data from forward-looking estimates based on current application volumes.
