Chairman of selectors, Ajit Agarkar, is all set to get a contract extension till June 2027 when his tenure ends in June this year. With the ODI World Cup lined up next year, the BCCI is keen to continue with Agarkar, given that the selectors, RP Singh and Pragyan Ojha, have yet to complete a year in their jobs. Under Agarkar, India won three ICC trophies – the T20 World Cup 2024, ICC Champions Trophy 2025, and the T20 World Cup 2026. The team also reached the final of the 2023 World Cup, where they lost to Australia in the final.
